Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) Launched by ISRO

ª Project Cost : 16 Billion Rs (US $260 Million)
ª Total Satellite : 7(IRNSS – 1A to IRNSS – 1G)


ª Total cost of the Project : 1420 Crore (US $ 230 Million ), while 125 Crore (US                                                   $20 Million for Each Satellite )
ª Technologies used : Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)
                                        
i. Global Positioning System (GPS)
                                        ii. GLONASS (Russian )
                                        iii. Galileo (European)

                                        iv. BeiDou -2 (Chinese)

Ø Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) is developed by ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation )
Ø The IRNSS would provide two services, with the Standard Positioning Service open for civilian use and the Restricted Service, encrypted one, for authorised users (military).
Ø Out of 7 Three  Satellite IRNSS – 1A and IRNSS – 1B ,
Ø IRNSS – 1C will Launch on 16 October 2014
Ø In 2014, one more Satellite IRNSS – 1D would be launched
Ø Three more Satellite will be launched in 2015

Ø This Satellite launched in Geosynchronous Orbit
