Explanation : The modern Nalanda University was created to blend values of the ancient Nalanda university that was one of the world’s first residential university established during the fifth century by the kings belonging to Gupta Empire. It is part of an ambitious plan for reviving and re-establishing Nalanda University which was one of the oldest and most prestigious higher-learning institutions of the World. व्याख्या : प्राचीन नालंदा विश्वविद्यालय लगभग पाँचवीं शताब्दी ई. में गुप्त साम्राज्य के शासकों द्वारा एक आवासीय अंतर्राष्ट्रीय विश्वविद्यालय के तौर पर बिहार के नालंदा में संस्थापित किया गया था। यह विश्वविद्यालय विश्व के सबसे प्रतिष्ठित और प्राचीन विश्वविद्यालयों में से एक रहा है तथा इसके पुराने गौरव को वापस लाने के लिए इस विश्वविद्यालय को पुनर्स्थापित करने के लिए सरकार ने वर्ष 2010 में एक विशेष कानून को संसद में पारित कराया था। हालांकि विश्वविद्यालय भवन के पूरी तरह से तैयार न होने के कारण इसका प्रारंभ फिलहाल राजगीर स्थित कन्वेंशन सेण्टर में किया गया है जबकि राज्य सरकार के तथागत होटल का प्रयोग छात्रावास के तौर पर किया जायेगा।

Explanation : The government has notified enhancement of wage ceiling to Rs. 15,000 per month, fixed minimum monthly pension at Rs. 1,000 under EPS-95 and enhanced the maximum sum assured under the Employees’ Deposit Linked Insurance (EDLI) Scheme to Rs. three lakh. The government’s decision to fix pension entitlement of Rs. 1,000 under the Employees’ Pension Scheme 1995 (EPFS-95) will immediately benefit 28 lakh pensioners who get less than this amount at present. The move to enhance the minimum wage ceiling for becoming a subscriber of Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation to Rs. 15,000 per month is expected to bring 50 lakh additional formal sector workers under the ambit of the body.

विस्तार : इन प्रावधानों के अलावा केन्द्र सरकार ने कर्मचारी निधि से जुड़ी बीमा योजना का अधिकतम लाभ तीन लाभ करने के प्रावधान के बारे में भी आदेश जारी कर दिए थे। माना जा रहा है कि 1,000 रुपए की मासिक पेंशन योजना से कम से कम 28 लाख पेंशनभोगियों को लाभ मिलेगा। वहीं सामाजिक सुरक्षा योजनाओं का लाभ उठाने के लिए कर्मचारियों की आय सीमा को बढ़ाकर 15,000 रुपए किया जाने का लाभ 50 लाख कर्मचारियों को मिलने की संभावना है जो संगठित श्रमिक वर्ग में आते हैं।

Explanation : Carolina Marin authored one of the most significant results in badminton history, beating favourite Li Xuerui of China in the Women’s Singles final at World Badminton Champion 2014 to become Spain’s first-ever World champion. She defeated World No. 1 Xuerui by 17-21, 21-17, 21-18. Marin had also defeated India’s P.V. Sindhu in the semi-finals to oust her out of the championship on 30 August. She also became the first world singles champion from Europe for 15 years. It is worth mentioning that Badminton is still at a developmental stage in Spain.
